LAS VEGAS (CLASS) – The Just One Project is helping to overcome food insecurity by distributing food through a mobile food pantry.

Now, a no-cost community market is making its school debut at Garside Junior High, where the goods will be distributed to students and their families. The school is located on Torrey Pines Drive, just north of Alta Drive.

Brooke Neubauer, executive director and founder of the nonprofit, said it currently serves more than 20,000 people with groceries each month. He describes the new market as a “mini-bodega” like you might see on the corner of a major metropolis.

The market will also provide nutritional advice and even bring in some school supplies, organizers said.

“We are so excited to be starting our second no-cost community market here at Garside High School,” she said. “Our free community market hours are school hours. Anyone and their families can come here during school hours and they can make an appointment, it’s so easy to come here and shop.”

The market is filled with volunteers.

“We want to make sure kids and their families have access to the right fresh stuff,” Neubauer said. “Packaging services are important to us.”

The first location opened by The Just One Project is located off Bonanza Road at Rancho Drive. Address: 711 North Rancho Drive, Suite 100.

“We want to help our customers achieve their goals,” Neubauer said. “We want them to thrive. We want them to be able to shop at their favorite grocery store in the future.”
