A Chico business is picking up the pieces after a burglar broke into the store early Friday morning.


Chico, California. – A Chico business is picking up the pieces after a burglar broke into the store early Friday morning.

On Thursday morning, cameras at Raya Pub captured a man breaking into the building and heading straight for the bitcoin machine inside the business.

A man wearing a mask and gloves and holding a saw was trying to access the contents of the machine.

“He had like an electric saw or something and he was digging like two points, he was very expert about it because he knew where to dig,” said Gabriel Sued, owner of Ray’s Liquor. He just took it. It took him over a minute to break into the case and leave.

Ray’s Liquor told Action News that there was nothing in the machine right now because Bitcoin workers had come a few days earlier to collect the money.

“When I came over here, it was always locked,” said Gerardo Rosas, a bartender at Ray’s. swing like that.”

That wasn’t the only business the masked robber targeted this week.

A masked man tried to break into High Five Tobacco on Friday morning around 6:40 a.m. High Five Tobacco for Action News Now the locks will be fixed as soon as possible.

In both cases, no merchandise or money was taken from the business, and the man never made it into Top Five Tobacco. Employees at Ray’s Liquor and High-Five told Action News that they were thankful no one was working at the time.
