
Adding to Mike McFeely’s excellent column the on the terrible environmental effects of cryptocurrency: Has your church or school been hit by hostage taking of your computer system? Getting back the system usually means depositing funds to untraceable cryptocurrency. The same is true for ransom fees for international kidnapping and the laundering of legal and illegal income to avoid taxes. The list goes on and on. How else is the value of crypto propped up?
Investors know that illegal use of these funds will continue. Why are certain US congressmen supporting regulation to give the funds the appearance of legitimacy? North Dakota should not give governmental support to this ultimate scamming device.
