Tom Brady reportedly lost $30 million in the collapse of cryptocurrency firm FTX.
Under an agreement the retired NFL quarterback entered into with FTX in 2021, he received $30 million in now worthless stock for his work promoting the company in television ads and at its conference, New York times I mentioned Friday.
The NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl winner served as an “ambassador.”
Going along with him at the time was his then-wife, Gisele Bundchen, who received $18 million in stock, according to the report.
FTX filed for bankruptcy last November. Its former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is facing federal fraud charges.
Brady also faces legal risk in addition to financial losses.
Brady and Bundchen, who officially divorced last October, have both been sued by FTX investors who want repayment from celebrity backers.
Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has also been sued in the FTX case, as have Larry David of “Seinfeld” fame, tennis player Naomi Osaka and NBA star Stephen Curry.
According to the lawsuit obtained by The Times, none of these defendants did any due diligence before marketing these FTX products to the public. It was filed in federal court in Florida.
Before the collapse of FTX, it was valued at $32 billion, including $48 million in shares owned by Brady and Bundchen, according to the Times. Now, it has no value.
Brady, 45, was ranked No. 50 on Forbes’ 2023 list of the world’s highest-paid athletes with earnings of $45.2 million in football salaries and endorsements.
Meanwhile, the former NFL quarterback was getting cozy with someone at fanatic Michael Rubin’s Hamptons Fourth of July party last weekend — but DailyMail.com EXCLUSIVELY revealed that it wasn’t Kim Kardashian.
Instead, he spent the evening stuck up next to the reality star’s girlfriend, model Emily Ratajkowski, 32.
“I don’t know why there are all these rumors about Brady and Kim Kardashian – they barely interacted at all,” a well-placed source who attended the event told DailyMail.com.
The source added, “He actually spent the evening with Emily Ratajkowski — they were together most of the night and seemed very comfortable.”
“They didn’t leave together but if anyone was getting close to them, it was them.”
