At the Los Angeles premiere of the film, Hale met Jodie Benson, who voiced Ariel in 1989.

‘Meeting Jodi Benson was a dream come true because she’s literally been the soundtrack to so many of our childhoods and lives, and her performance as the original Ariel was so special,’ Halle said.

‘So to have her blessing and stamp of approval was so beautiful and right and I’m honored to meet her, because she’s a legend.’

And Bailey spoke about how much it means to be a black woman in a first-person white character, a theme she’s discussed since she first starred in the film in 2019.

‘Oh, I am worthy too; She looks like me. I mean we should have a representation where we can say, ‘I have a doll that looks like me’.

‘It’s so special and you know, I’m so grateful to even be a part of it,’ she said proudly.

Since the promotional clips have appeared in the media, young viewers have taken to the Internet with their excited reaction to seeing Hale in the teaser.
