After the lawsuit was dropped, Baldwin took to Instagram to thank his wife Hilaria for helping her through the controversy, posting an adorable picture of her curled up on his knee.

News broke that Baldwin and the rest of the cast had begun shooting the movie in Montana.

In October 2021, Baldwin killed cinematographer Halina Hutchins on the set of the film in New Mexico when she fired a live round from a prop gun.

“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the charges against Alec Baldwin and encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement.

Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter in January in connection with Houchin’s death and the wounding of ‘Rust’ director Joel Souza, who was shot in the same way as Hutchins.

The case against Baldwin was already winding down. The weapons charge, which carries a much longer sentence, has been dismissed and the first special prosecutor appointed to the case has resigned.

This is despite an infamous report from the FBI that concluded that Alec Baldwin pulled the gun that killed the cinematographer on the Rust set — even though he repeatedly claimed he didn’t.

While the report could still lead to criminal charges against the actor and others involved in the accidental shooting, Santa Fe police are still investigating Hutchins’ death.

New Mexico prosecutors were honored with legal malpractice after filing charges against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reid in January. The most serious charges against the defendants were dropped in February and two prosecutors were fired.

Prosecutors are expected to drop their charges against Baldwin as early as Thursday in a court filing, according to a source familiar with the conversations between Baldwin’s defense attorneys and the special prosecutor.

New evidence shows the firearm Baldwin used was tampered with, and prosecutors have not been able to prove it required a trigger pull to fire, the source said.

The two sides discussed the charges at a May 3 hearing, where a New Mexico judge was to decide whether Baldwin should stand trial.

Liberty: Baldwin was charged in January with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Houchin’s death and assault against ‘Rust’ director Joel Souza.

Baldwin has been accused of ‘reckless’ recklessness in Hutchin’s death. In February, prosecutors pleaded not guilty to reduced charges.

He said in interviews that he was told the gun was safe and that he never pulled the trigger.

The production company agreed to pay a $100,000 fine after a rigorous safety review by New Mexico regulators detailed complaints and misfires that were ignored before Hutchins died in October 2021.

Baldwin’s co-defendant and Roost gunman, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, is still testifying against her.
