Authorities in Nevada have announced that they have served a search warrant in connection with the September 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.

“There were cruisers and SWAT vehicles. They had lights on the house,” said Don Sansucci, 61, who went to bed with his wife when blue and red police lights woke them up just after 9 p.m.

Public records, including election records, link the property to the wife of Duane “Keef D” Davis, the uncle of Orlando Anderson, one of Shakur’s rivals, who authorities have long suspected in the rapper’s death.

Anderson denied any involvement in Shakur’s murder at the time, but died two years later in an unrelated gang shooting.

From the sidewalk in front of their home Monday night, Sansucci said, a man and a woman walked outside their home surrounded by police, hands behind their heads, and slowly walking back toward the officers.

Sansuchi says he doesn’t know the people living in the house. He described the neighborhood as a “nice quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood,” but said most residents on the street kept to themselves.

It was not immediately known if Davis had an attorney available to comment on his behalf, and messages left for Davis and his wife, Paula Clemons, were not returned. Records show the two were married in 2005 in Clark County, Nevada.

Search news Shakur breathed new life into the long unsolved murderIt is surrounded by conspiracy theories. No arrests were made, but attention to the case lasted for decades.

Shakur’s death came as his fourth solo album, “All Eyez on Me,” topped the charts and sold nearly 5 million copies. selected six times for the Grammy Award; Shakur is primarily considered one of the most influential and versatile rappers of all time.

On the night of September 7, 1996, Shakur was riding in a black BMW with Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight driving around 10 cars. They were waiting at a red light on the Las Vegas Strip when a white Cadillac pulled up next to them and opened fire. Shakur was shot several times.

The shooting happened shortly after a fight broke out at the casino between Anderson, Shakur and their associates the night before.

There were several witnesses, but the investigation quickly stalled, in part because those witnesses refused to cooperate, Las Vegas police said earlier.

That silence was broken when, in 2018, Davis admitted he was in the front seat of a Cadillac, saying he was ready to speak after a cancer diagnosis. as if Interview for the BET showAnderson said he was one of two men in the back seat who implicated his nephew in the shooting.

Davis said the shots were fired from behind the car, though he stopped short of saying which of the two pulled the trigger, saying he had to obey “the code of the street.”

It’s unclear if Davis is living in the home police have this week and will be present when officers descend on the property. Las Vegas court records show he had an arrest warrant from July 2022 for failing to appear in court on drug charges.
