Joanna Gaines celebrated a big event as a mom over the weekend as her and Chip’s son, Drake, graduated from high school.

The Fixer Upper star, 45 – who recently attended a state dinner at the White House with husband Chip, 48 – posted a heartfelt Instagram tribute to the 18-year-old, which featured her looking into the camera in various photos of Drake growing up.

Describing the video, Joanna lamented how quickly time flies before expressing her pride as a parent.

The HGTV star wrote: ‘It feels like just yesterday that we were cheering him on as he took his first step… but this past weekend, we were cheering him on as he walked across the stage to receive his high school diploma (!!). He took his first step into a world beyond what he knew.’

‘We’re so proud of you, Drake,’ Joanna interrupted, captioning his baseball jersey number 16 with a red heart emoji.

Joanna has opened up about how her ‘tight little family unit’ will change when Drake leaves the nest.

‘I think for us, it’s knowing that we’re this tight little family and we’re a big family. There are seven of us, but knowing the second one baby leaves changes that dynamic.’

Meanwhile, Chip is looking forward to the future and witnessing Chip’s journey to adulthood.

“I think like anything, we did our job,” said the proud father. And now with this little boy, man, whatever it is, it’s going to be fun to see what happens, and I think it’s healthy.
