The Princess of Wales showed off her swagger on a whirlwind visit to Wales today with her husband Prince William.
Kate, 41, and the Prince, 40, are touring the South Wales Valleys and Mid Wales over the next two days, kicking off their trip by meeting the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
The mother-of-three opted for a sporty look, wearing the Mountain Gear Kongor MRT Women’s Jacket, worth £600, £110 gray trousers by Dutch brand G-Star RAW, a camera hat and Berghaus 175 hiking boots.
William and Kate, who are patrons of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, had the opportunity to take part in training activities such as belaying, medical support exercises and search dog rescue.
When William was asked by teachers if he had previously pulled out of the race, he said: ‘It’s time’ – and Kate was heard telling her husband: ‘We’re not racing’ before heading to the finish line.
William and Kate arrived in the wet and windy area of Bannau Brycheiniog, near Merthyr Tydfil in the South Wales Valleys, dressed in hiking gear, and safety equipment ready to descend.
They were guided through the process by the volunteer-run Mountain Rescue Organization, which responds to calls 24 hours a day, year-round.
The group covers the central area of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, which includes Pen Fan, the highest point in southern Britain, and Ystradfelte Falls, and has been protecting the surrounding communities since 1963.
They also engaged in other training activities such as medical support exercises and watched search dog rescue demonstrations while hearing from current and former team members about their six-decade history.
Kate takes part in a mock casualty rescue and is quickly brought in by William when Keith radios for the rescue, before the two team up to help remove the dead man, who has injured his leg. The royal couple then helped the victim onto the stretcher.
William and Kate later dry off and meet the Highlanders at the nearby Dowlais Rugby Club.
A feeder club for the Cardiff Blues, this club is a popular place for young people to hang out and have fun after work.
You’ll also find the owners of the Little Dragon Pizza van, which attracts people from all over the country to try the food.

At the club you will have the opportunity to speak with individual volunteers, supporters of the organization and members of the local community.
After spending some time there, you will find many members of the public outside. The royal couple will stay at a local bed and breakfast tonight.
William served as an RAF search and rescue pilot before becoming a senior royal at the age of 35. He worked as a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The couple’s engagement comes at a busy time, with Kate visiting a baby bank earlier this week to hand out essentials to new mums.
The Princess of Wales spoke about the importance of community initiatives and made a surprise visit to a baby bank to collect donations and puppies for new mothers.
Kate spoke of how quickly her son Prince Louis, who celebrated his fifth birthday a day earlier, has grown up and promised to bring his own family to help at the center in the future.
The princess visited a number of community events in the Windsor area after her family moved there last year and told the organizers – who she had written to say she wanted to visit – that she wanted to see their work in person.
Kate looked chic in £285 beige from Reiss, which she teamed with smart trousers and a white T-shirt. She completed her outfit with £130 pointed pumps from British brand Boden.
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess also celebrated the birthday of their youngest son, Prince Louis, over the weekend. The Prince and Princess have released several photos to celebrate his fifth birthday.

Proud parents Kate and William said they were delighted to share pictures of their energetic little boy tonight.
In one of the pictures, Lewis – dressed in shorts, a shirt and a woolen jumper – is seen smiling at a man, shot while riding a wheelbarrow. Another is a close-up of his smiling face.
Not known for sitting down for long periods of time, Louis – previously described by his mother as a ‘kamikaze’ rugby player – is often seen in active poses.
Unlike previous family portraits, however, these images were not taken by senior photographer Kate.
Instead, the wonderful family moment was captured by Millie Pilkington, who was previously trusted by Kate and William to personally photograph their wedding invitations in 2011.
Prince Louis is expected to join older siblings George, nine, and Charlotte, who will soon be eight, for his carriage ride to the Coronation on May 6.
George, second in line to the throne, is expected to play a role in the service, while Louis is expected to join members of the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the RAF flypast.
