BTS’s veteran bandmate Jin is set to enlist in the military on December 13.

According to local media reports, the band’s vocalist will enter the future training class next month and undergo five weeks of basic training in Yeonchon, Gyeonggi Province. Jin is then placed in a military unit.

After the news broke, Gene took to online fan forum Vevers to share his thoughts on joining the military.

All South Korean men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the armed forces for 18-21 months.

“The article came out against my will, but don’t come to army training centers. A lot of people besides me live (there) so if it gets too crowded it can be dangerous. “I love you Army,” Gene wrote to fans, which the group refers to as “The Army.”

In October, the band’s agency, Big Hit Music, announced that the seven bandmates — Jin, RM, Suga, Jimin, J-Hope, V and Jungkook — will enlist in the military in order, starting with the oldest Jin.

Earlier this month, Jin applied to the Military Personnel Administration to withdraw his request to postpone his mandatory military service.

Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, had delayed his enlistment until the end of this year under the revised Military Service Act of 2020.
