of’Dancing queens on the road‘Concert faced controversy by refunding the money due to insufficient preparation for the performance. On the evening of July 9 KST in Seoul, the final stage of the TVN The variety show ‘Dancing Queens on the Road’ team took place. The audience at the concert hall, anticipating the stage of the veteran artistes, was disappointed.
The concert was performed by Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, Lee Hyeri, BoA, Hwa Sa, ShinyTamin, Red velvet‘S Seulgi, Zico, Rain, and HyunA However, some audience members complained that there were too many guests on stage overshadowing the ‘Dancing Queens’ show.
Dissatisfaction among the audience grew after the performance was delayed and lasted for 5 hours instead of the originally scheduled 150 minutes. Technical problems and reboots caused interruptions during the performance. To make matters worse, the concert ended at midnight and the audience who relied on public transport was missing because the last train had left. Faced with expensive taxi fares, disgruntled attendees expressed their dismay at the lack of consideration for the problem.
Lack of communication regarding the concert process seems to be the main reason for the audience’s complaints. Although it had announced in advance that the event would be broadcast, the audience was not aware of the disruptions and delays caused by the event. Consequently, they felt that they were only spectators, not active participants, at a paid concert. Requests for refunds have flooded in due to the disrespectful handling of the viewer experience.
On July 10 KST, ‘Dancing Queens On The Road’ released a statement regarding the situation.
“Due to the concert nature of the broadcast recording, the preparation time for each stage was longer than expected. Due to heavy rain, there was a power outage during the last rehearsal. The day, and this caused a power outage on the stage, in the process, on the special effects and electronic equipment. Some unexpected errors occurred, so the end of the performance was delayed.
As this Seoul show is the official finale of ‘Dance Singer Touring Group’, the members and production team put their heart and soul into performing ‘Dance Singer Touring Group’s’ unique new song as well as selections. And levels not seen in previous performances. Except for the opening and performances, out of 20 stages, all but 4 of the guest stages were decorated with stories from the wandering troupe.
I apologize again to my fans who had trouble viewing. Thank you to everyone who supported ‘Dance Singer Tour’ and participated in the Seoul concert; I hope it will be a more likeable program in the future. I will try harder.”
