Megan T. Stallion’s ex-best friend says Tori Lanez threatened her.

  • Megan T. Stallion’s former best friend took the stand to testify against Tori Lanez on Wednesday.
  • Kelsey Harris threatened Lanez with a gun on the evening of July 12, 2020.
  • Asked for details, Harris said, “I don’t know,” despite being granted immunity for her testimony.

Megan T. Stallion’s ex-best friend died in 2010. He took the stand Wednesday to shed light on what happened on the night in 2020 prosecutors say rapper Tory Lanez shot Megan in the leg — but stopped short of testifying about critical details.

Kelsey Harris, Meghan’s former best friend and assistant, shakes as she testifies in Lanez’s trial on July 12, 2020, as she pleads not guilty to three felony charges after she was shot at Kylie Jenner’s Los Angeles home on July 12, 2020.

“I don’t want to be here today, it’s an aggravating situation,” Harris told the court.

“This happened with Meghan lying in front of a million people,” she added, adding that she didn’t defend Meghan from suggestions that she had pulled the gun or received a hush money payment. In court, Harris Lanez tried to pay the two women $1 million after the shooting, but he did not confirm, deny or explain key details about the night.

Harris said Lanez could hire a lawyer or give her security money through investments.

In the few details shared, Harris said the comment he made before shooting Lanz was when Megan told him he should be “on the remix with Jack Harlow” to his credit.

Lanez, whose birth name is Daystar Peterson, was charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle – by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in October 2020. Last week, Lanez was hit with a new charge of grossly negligent discharge of a firearm in connection with the collision. If convicted, he faces up to 22 years in prison.

On Wednesday morning, Harris consulted with her attorney, saying she would plead the fifth and not testify on Wednesday. But after Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott granted Harris immunity for her testimony, she took the stand and called defense comments that she shot Megan “ridiculous.”

Harris denied shooting Megan

Asked by prosecutors if he shot Megan, Harris said emphatically, “I didn’t.” In her testimony, she repeatedly said she never saw Lanez fire at Megan, adding that in a September 2022 interview with investigators, she said she saw Lanez shoot Megan five times.

Lanez’s attorney said in opening statements Monday that the night was sparked by a jealous fight between the two women, and that the evidence does not support that Lanez shot Megan.

Harris said Wednesday that she has known Megan, whose birth name is Megan Peet, since their high school senior year, and that the two women met at a Roc Nation brunch with Lanez in 2020. Throughout her testimony, Harris said it was a source of tension between them. Two Women Megan tried to set her up with Lanez after the breakup, but she later had her own history with him.

Lanez denied shooting Megan. Megan testified Tuesday that on July 12, 2020, at Kylie Jenner’s home, Lanz, she and Harris got into a heated argument the night they got together, and that Lanz threatened both women before shooting Megan.

“It’s funny,” Harris said, suggesting that she shot Meghan on the day of the party. She hesitantly added that she and Meghan were at Kylie Jenner’s house, getting together with a few people the night before things went sour.

Harris said she eventually fell asleep drunk and woke up with others in the pool, remembering “Meghan’s behavior and obnoxious laughter” before they tried to leave Kylie’s house. Lanz wanted to stay, Harris said, and “he was flirting with Kylie as Tori.”

The two women left with Lanez’s driver, before Megan said she had to return the slipper, Harris testified.

“There was a fight in there,” Harris said, referring to when Megan returned to Kylie’s house. “‘We’ve got to get the beach competition out,'” Megan recalled as she left the house.

When they got back into Lanez’s car with him, “everybody’s getting suspicious, taking jabs at each other,” Harris said.

Harris told jurors that Lanez asked Megan to tell Harris about their story, and then Harris called Megan out on her “honesty.”

The information from Harris’s testimony stood

Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta then asked Harris if Lanez threatened her with a gun during the three-way argument. Harris, who tried not to answer the question, finally confirmed that Lanez threatened her.

She asks Harris what Lanez told her he was about to shoot her in the car, but Harris stops.

Throughout the day, she asked to consult with her attorney, trying to invoke the Fifth Amendment. When asked to answer the question before lunch, she paused and said, “I don’t know.”

Harris on Wednesday Her first interview with the district attorney’s office in September 2022 was “100% not true,” she continued to testify, though she did not elaborate on what exactly she was saying. Harris has not disclosed to prosecutors the details of her injuries after Lanez attacked her that night, but after the shooting, Lanez yelled, “Shut up, shut up, shut up!”

As prosecutors showed photos of Harris in the backseat of Lanez’s car covered in blood after the shooting, Harris said she couldn’t confirm whose blood it was, and the audio was played in a series of calls Lanz made to Harris from jail the next day. Harris said she wasn’t sure what specifically he was apologizing about that night when Lenez said, “They were very drunk.”

In court Wednesday, Meghan refused to confirm who shot her and did not expand on the text message she sent Meghan’s security detail after the shooting, which read: “Help. Tory shot Meg. 911.” In Megan’s testimony Tuesday, she corroborated Harris and said Lanez offered her $1 million not to say anything.

“I’m neutral,” Harris said. “I moved on with my life.”
