ATLANTA – Ringo Starr is doubling down on vocal authenticity on a new Beatles song recently teased by former bandmate Paul McCartney.

Starr spoke to Rolling Stone for an upcoming podcast, in which he confirmed that the latter would “absolutely” not copy John Lennon’s vocals for the new track, which uses AI to clean up previously recorded snippets.

The song will feature the voice of the late George Harrison, Starr confirmed.

“It was beautiful,” he said, “it’s the last track you’ll hear with the four kids. And that’s the truth.”

McCartney also tried to explain last month how artificial intelligence would be used in what he said would be the “last” Beatles song.

“We’ve seen some confusion and speculation about it,” he wrote in a note posted on his Instagram story at the time. “There seems to be a lot of guesswork out there.”

“Not much can be said at this stage, but to be clear, nothing is artificial or synthetic. Everything is real and we all play on it,” he said. “We’ve cleaned up some existing recordings – a process that’s been going on for years.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s “Today” program on June 13, the 81-year-old musician revealed that AI technology is being used to release a “new” track featuring all four Beatles, including band members Lennon and Harrison, who died in 2001. m.

“When we came to do the last Beatles record — John was the demo we did and we’ve just finished it, it’s going to be released this year — and we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI,” McCartney said. “So we were able to join the record as usual.”

Star, on the other hand, is going to celebrate his 83rd birthday on July 7.

The music icon, who recently wrapped up a spring tour with an all-star band, told Rolling Stone he’s feeling great. “You never know when you’re going to fail, that’s what it is,” he added. “And I’m not giving up yet.”
