At his London show on the European leg of the Hours Till Down tour, The Weeknd wore an MF Doom-inspired mask. However, many fans on social media did not feel it.
Weekend MF wears a doom-inspired mask
Earlier this week, The Weeknd kicked off his After Hours Till Down tour in London wearing a mask inspired by MF Doom. In videos posted on social media, the R&B singer appeared wearing a metallic mask while chanting “Breathe.” During the show, Abel finally took it out and performed it during his rendition of “Faith.”
This isn’t the first time The Weeknd has worn the mask. The Grammy Award-winning artist has been rocking the metallic facade since the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour in Portugal in June. It looks like The Weeknd is bringing some chrome metropolis world to his stage show.
However, fans of the late MF Doom are not feeling a piece of The Weeknd’s metallic face.
“How dare you wear the f**king MF Doom mask.” Someone posted on Twitter.
“The last test of the week is MF DOOM or something. [cry laughing emoji]” wrote another fan.
“Why is The Weeknd wearing MF Doom’s mask? [pensive face emoji]” asked a third man.

MF Doom’s cause of death has been revealed
Last week, In October 2020, the circumstances surrounding MF Dom’s death were revealed. In an interview with Leeds Live, the late rapper’s wife, Jasmine Thompson, revealed that Dom had been living in West Yorkshire, England before his death. According to Thompson, Dom began experiencing serious health issues after having a severe reaction to the blood pressure medication he was now prescribed. He had trouble breathing and a swollen tongue, a condition known as angioedema.
MF Dom was admitted to St. James Hospital in England but did not receive proper treatment from the facility, his wife said. Dom died on October 31, 2020 at the age of 49. News of his death was made public two months later in December 2020.
Following the news report, the Chief Medical Officer of St James Hospital apologized to MF Dome’s family.
“I would like to express our sincere condolences. [MF Doom’s] Family, friends and fans at this difficult time. I apologize [sic] The care he received was not up to our expectations, the chief medical officer at St James’s Hospital told UK The guard.
“Following his tragic death we have carried out a serious emergency investigation and the report has been passed on to Daniel’s family,” the statement continued. “As a result, we have put in place a number of actions and a broad lesson from what happened will be used as a teaching topic in a number of different clinical specialties. [sic]. We support the Coroner’s view that we have clear national guidance and understanding in this area.
