Matson hired Tom as the CEO of Wistar America

The show’s first major shocker comes in a meeting between Matsson and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) in which the former reveals that he has appointed Shiv as the company’s new CEO to betray Shiv and stick the latter with Royce.

“I’m not looking for a friend, I’m looking for a veteran,” Matson told Tom.

News quickly travels to Roy’s children in Greg (Nicholas Brown) that a new CEO is being chosen, prompting Shiv to immediately call Matson – she doesn’t return the call.

Roy’s siblings resolved their differences – Kendall painting their choice for CEO

As the Roy siblings plan their next move to stop Mattson, the three ultimately decide that Kendall is the best fit to take over the CEO job and vote to block the GoJo merger.

To celebrate, Kendall, Shiv and Roman decided to cook a meal “fit for a king” – a rare moment for the three siblings.

Who won the 'replacement'?

It is revealed to Shiv that Tom is the new CEO – and they start fighting with Greg

The battle between Mattson and Royce reveals to Shiv that Tom has been chosen as the new CEO, and a furious Shiv runs to her brothers to share the news.

After learning that he was betrayed by Greg, Tom asks him to talk privately and the pair fall out. Word quickly travels to Mattson, who tells the team to prepare for Roy’s attempt to stop the GoJo deal.

Shiv changed sides – again

After a board vote to kill the GoJo deal, the final decision came down to Shiv, who considered switching teams and allowing the GoJo merger to happen. Shiv and Roman brought up killing the caterer in Season 1 as an excuse not to go along with the plan, and the triple alliance was instantly disbanded.

After a heated exchange, Kendall and Roman fight and Shiv leaves the room. Kendall runs back to the board meeting to try to delay the meeting, but it’s too late after Frank (Peter Friedman) reveals that Shiv supports the GoJo deal.

Sopranos-style ending

“Success” ends with Roman alone at a bar, Shiv and Tom sitting quietly in a car moments after Tom was named the new CEO of Wystar – seemingly back together – and a defeated Kendall sitting on a park bench looking out. On the water where there is no going when the room cuts to black.

All episodes of “Success” are streaming now on HBO Max.
