There was a time when surprisingly little of General Hospital‘s action took place at the titular medical facility. Thankfully, that has definitely changed over the past few years… which explains why the show has needed to periodically beef up the staff. Should the hospital’s baseball team need another player, they’ll have a new guy to press into service now that Soap Opera Digest reportsJeffrey Stubblefield has been brought in to play Dr. Bronson. And if the actor looks familiar, that’s because it’s not the first time he’s shown up in Port Charles!
But let’s back up a bit, shall we? We’ll meet Stubblefield’s alter ego when Gregory pays a visit to his physician, the aforementioned Dr. Bronson. Chase and Finn’s dad, you’ll no doubt remember, is currently suffering from ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Although the erstwhile professor has been trying to keep the news from spreading, it hasn’t been easy given his increasingly severe — not to mention noticeable — symptoms.
As for Stubblefield’s previous visit to Port Charles, he appeared not on General Hospital but on the mothership’s primetime spinoff, General Hospital: Night Shift. In an episode titled “Fallen From the Sky,” he played Roger Walker, who arrived at the hospital anxious for news of his about-to-give-birth wife. Unfortunately, it turned out that she wasn’t actually pregnant, but rather suffering a phantom pregnancy brought about by the psychological stress endured following an abortion years earlier.

Stubblefield’s other soapy appearance was in two episodes of the primetime soap Desperate Housewives, in which he played Jerome, press secretary to Victor Lang, who would become the second husband of Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle.
More recently, Stubblefield has appeared in everything from Good Trouble to Diary of a Single Mom and the popular legal drama The Practice.
