Earlier this month when Rodney Steven II and his Genesis Health Clubs purchased Clayview Country Club in Liberty, Mo., he said he’d have more news before the end of the year.

Now, he’s ready to announce it, and it’s big — literally.

Steven purchased the 365,000-square-foot RDV Sportsplex in Orlando.

“It’s hard to describe just how massive this club is,” Steven said in an e-mailed statement.

He said it is one of the nation’s largest clubs.

The multiuse facility started in 1998.

“It’s got everything: tennis, aquatics, two ice rinks, pickleball, work space lounge, spa and a huge fitness area,” Steven said.

The facility now will be known as Genesis Health Clubs – Orlando Sportsplex. The ice center will be called Genesis Ice Den.

Steven and Genesis now have 61 clubs nationally.

They entered the central Florida area earlier this year with two facilities at the Villages.

“Florida has been good to us, so it’s a natural place for expansion,” Steven said. “I expect you’ll be seeing a lot more from us in the Sunshine State.”
