In what is expected to be the most exciting All-Star event, this year’s field includes a handful of rookies and a handful of experienced pitchers, including two-time champion Pete Alonso, last year’s runner-up and hometown favorite Julio Rodriguez and 2021 MLB home run leader Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Four of Monday’s participants are tied for the top six in home runs midway through the regular season.

What are the home run derby rules?
The tournament is bracket, single elimination style. In the first two rounds, each competitor has 45 seconds to finish and three minutes. It’s two minutes with 45 seconds left in the final race.
Batters can earn extra time as they are awarded 30 seconds of bonus time at the end of each inning and an additional 30 seconds for 2 home runs 440 feet. The batter continues with several home runs in the game. If ticketing is required, there will be a 60-second swing without stopping.
How long does the home run derby last?
The Home Run Derby consists of three rounds. There will be four matches in the first round and two matches in the second.

The Mariners will host All-Star Week at T-Mobile Park for the second time in the stadium’s history in 2001. But it will be a slightly different playing field than the 2001 Home Run Derby.
