Each team played a doubleheader that day — it was the Fourth of July, after all. Imagine the excitement for Chicago’s West Side Grows when the hometown Colts beat the Philadelphia Phillies 16-10 in the opener, then went on to win the second game 12-11 by a combined 49 runs!
