Korea’s first season opener against the Dodgers and Padres; Regular season games return to Mexico City and London for the second straight season. Spring training to feature a pair of games in the Dominican Republic

Major League Baseball Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association announced today that the MLB WORLD Tour will be held in four different countries outside of the United States and Canada in 2024. The 2024 MLB Championship season will begin in Korea on March 20-21 when the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres meet for two games in Korea. Regular season games return to Mexico City for the second consecutive season with a 2-game set between the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies on April 27-28. The MLB World Tour events join the previously announced two-game series between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies at London Stadium on June 8–9, 2024.

In addition to the three international regular season series, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will meet for two spring training games March 9-10 at the Estadio Quisquea in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The opening series in Seoul between the Dodgers and Padres — two franchises with South Korean players’ traditions — will mark the ninth international opener in Major League history outside the 50 United States and Canada, following the 1999 opener in Monterrey, Mexico. Rockies and Padres; the 2000 home opener in Tokyo, Japan between the Mets and the Chicago Cubs; the 2001 home opener between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the 2004 opening series in Tokyo between the Tampa Bay Devils and the New York Yankees; the 2008 season opener in Tokyo between the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics; the 2012 season opener in Tokyo between the Athletics and Seattle Mariners; the 2014 series opener in Sydney, Australia between the Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks; and the 2019 series opener in Tokyo between the Athletics and Navy.

For the Dodgers, this marks their first international trip in 2018 since the Padres played in Monterey. Los Angeles also played in the 2014 Sydney Open. 2010 exhibition games in Taiwan against the Chinese Professional Baseball League All-Stars. 2008 exhibition games in Beijing, China against the Padres, 2003 exhibition games in Mexico City against the Mets; and the 1988 exhibition games in San Juan and Bayamon, Puerto Rico at the Montreal Expos.

In addition to the games against Los Angeles, the Padres also participate in the 2023 regular season series in Mexico City against the San Francisco Giants. 2016 exhibition games against the Astros in Mexico City; 2002 exhibition game against the D-backs in Hermosillo, Mexico; 2001 exhibition game against the Rockies in Culiacan, Mexico; 1999 season-opener against Colorado in Monterey; and a three-game regular season streak in 1996 against the Mets at Monterey.

Houston last played in 2019 against the Los Angeles Angels at Monterey. Before that series, the Astros also played: the aforementioned 2016 exhibition series in Mexico City against San Diego. 2004 exhibition games against the Florida Marlins in Mexico City; 2001 exhibition games against the Cleveland Indians in Valencia, Venezuela; 2000 exhibition games against the Red Sox in Santo Domingo; and a pair of exhibition games in 1982 against the Baltimore Orioles in San Juan and Bayamon.

The Rockies will make their first international trip since taking on the D-Backs in the 2019 exhibition games in Monterey. Colorado played the aforementioned games against San Diego in Culican in 2001 and Monterey in the 1999 Opening Day Tournament.

The Mets last traveled in 2010, when they took a three-game series against the Florida Marlins in San Juan.
