Lakers forward Anthony Davis is close to returning to the lineup after suffering a stress injury to his right leg since mid-December. According to the report From ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Per Wojnarowski’s report, Davis continues to make “pain-free progress” on his leg, and there is optimism around the team that he could return to the lineup by the end of next week.
The Lakers begin a five-game road trip in Boston on Saturday, Jan. 28, which could be when Davis is ready to return.
Before the injury, Davis was playing at an MVP level for the Lakers, catching the offense with LeBron James early in the season. Now, with James playing at an extremely high level, the addition of Davis with both stars healthy could elevate the Lakers to a new level in the Western Conference.
Davis, 29, is averaging a career-high 27.4 points per game with a career-best 12.1 rebounds on 59.4% shooting from the floor.
The Lakers are currently 20-25 on the season and two games back of 10th place in the West.
