Well, that person will be hurt for a while. Hopefully, the Golden State Warriors can get back on Thursday night against the Denver Nuggets, because Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves is a rematch.

The Dubs played well for three quarters and took a 14-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Playing one of the hottest teams in the league, on the road, they look like they’re in control. And then their offense got sloppy instead of sloppy, their defense forgot how to handle former teammate D’Angelo Russell and the game went into overtime. There, Russell quickly found fault, which gave the Warriors a distinct advantage.

They blew that advantage, and lost 119-114.

So now let’s rank the players. As always, scores are based on my expectations for each player, with “B” representing average play for that player.

Note: True-shooting percentage (TS) is a measure of efficiency for threes and free throws. Entering Wednesday’s games, the league average TS was 57.9 percent.

Draymond Green

39 minutes, 10 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 5 turnovers, 3 fouls, 5-for-10 shooting, 0-for-3 threes, 50.0% TS, -6

A very strange thing happened in this game: Green and Steph Curry were not on the same page. They had a lot of plays where they were on completely different pages, and as their connection usually went to Green to Curry, it led to a lot of turnovers for Curry.

I’m willing to go a little overboard on some of the twists, because their disconnect seems more like what Carrie does than Dry does. There were a few times when Green passed the ball to where he was waiting, and Curry didn’t go there.

It’s amazing to see.

Either way, it was a below-average game for Dray, but I still thought he was one of the better players on the team. He played some pretty solid road defense up front and came back in style.

Level: B

Post-game bonus He led the team again.

Andrew Wiggins

35 minutes, 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls, 7-for-13 shooting, 1-for-4 threes, 1-for-2 free throws, 57.6% TS, -8

Offensively, this was the right move for Wiggins, even though he didn’t have a game where he scored above the league average in his impressive performance against the Houston Rockets on Dec. 3.

Wiggins wasn’t particularly on the court in the closing minutes of regulation … at least not until the final minute. He looks healthier and more athletic, but still hasn’t made a big impact.

Props to him for all seven iterations. He didn’t have more than five boards in his last 12 games.

Grade: B-

Steph Curry

43 minutes, 29 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 4 turnovers, 5 fouls, 8-for-21 shooting, 5-for-12 threes, 8-for-9 free throws, 58.1 % TS -5

For most gamers, this is one of the best games of the year. But we feel really bad for Curry. It was dynamic at first, with circus shots, aggressiveness and threes that dropped your jaw to the floor.

But as the game progressed, it became trickier and more slippery. He miscommunicated with Green on several occasions, had some inexcusable turnovers late, and took a very poor shot to try and win the game late in the game. When the attack starts to go, the defense is damaged when it starts to reach.

He just seemed distraught. I’ll be curious to see if Kerr gives up Thursday’s game. Some rest may do him good… but he can get back on the horse and destroy everyone.

Level: C

Post-game bonus He led the team in points.

Clay Thompson

40 minutes, 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 1 foul, 3-for-13 shooting, 2-for-7 threes, 6-for-6 free throws, 44.8% TS, +2

Pretty rough game from Klay, though I’d like to point out how much he’s been kicking on the glass lately. He didn’t have any shots in this game though; He did a good job of getting to the free throw line though.

Grade: D+

Jordan Poole

32 minutes, 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 turnovers, 3 fouls, 4-for-13 shooting, 1-for-5 threes, 9-for-10 free throws, 51.7% TS, -9

Poole’s energy was huge in this game. He had a few key offensive plays that served as spark plugs. She flew to the lane for rebounds and kept balls alive and was a fierce player. I thought his defense was very strong.

His shot selection and execution wasn’t great, unfortunately. I loved the rest of the game though.

Grade: B-

Post-game bonus Tied for the team lead in assists, worst plus/minus on the team.

Jonathan Kuminga

15 minutes, 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 turnover, 4 fouls, 4-for-8 shooting, 1-for-2 threes, 1-for-2 free throws, 56.3% TS, -4

Kuminga has been on a roll lately … he has 29 in his last seven games. He brought good energy to this game, but I thought he was a little out of control. Head and shoulders above what he was earlier in the season, but less impactful in this one.

Grade: B-

Kevin Looney

28 minutes, 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 4 fouls, 4-for-5 shooting, 2-for-2 free throws, 85.0% TS, +12

Looney may have moved to the bench, but that has done nothing to diminish his impact on the game. Outside of Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, Looney ate up every level in this game. And as a result, he was on the court as part of the best closing line to see.

Level: A

Post-game bonus He led the team in plus/minus.

Anthony Lamb

7 minutes, 0 points, 1 assist, 1 foul, 0-for-1 shooting, 0-for-1 threes, 0.0% TS, 0 plus/minus

The Lamb’s two-way contract is getting very close to expiration…but it looks like he’s falling out of the rotation a bit. His minutes are dwindling. Sometimes the Warriors have to disrupt them or incorporate other players into the rotation, because it’s too early in the season to play just a few players.

Anyway, Sheep seems to be gone in a few minutes.

Grade: C-

Donte DiVincenzo

25 minutes, 7 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover, 1 foul, 3-for-7 shooting, 1-for-4 threes, 50.0% TS, -7

DDV was very strong, although not spectacular, at a very impressive level of play. He’s such a great bench player, and he looks amazing when the Warriors play well, and he looks a little restless when they play.

Level: B

Post-game bonus He is tied for the team lead in assists.

Wednesday’s DNPs: Patrick Baldwin Jr., Michael Green, Moses Moody, James Wiseman

Wednesday’s inactives: Andre Iguodala, Ty Jerome, Ryan Rollins
