The 2023 NFL Draft may still be fresh on everyone’s mind, but the 2023 college football season is about to begin, which means teams and writers are busy tracking next year’s prospects. This is where these 2024 mock drafts come in handy. Yardbarker has just released a new mock draft and we got to take a look at the picks they gave to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
First, the Steelers have the No. 8 overall pick, which doesn’t bode well for fans. This team should be better, not worse, this season. As for the pick, they have the Steelers taking Florida State edge Jared Quote.
If the Steelers are able to shape the quality of the player’s numbers, something is wrong in the offseason, and it’s likely to be on the offensive side of the football. However, if the numbers are the pick, the Steelers are unable to sign a contract extension with linebacker Alex Highsmith and either he’s on his way or the situation is dire.
I wouldn’t panic at all if the edge rusher isn’t in high demand when the season ends. While the Steelers have Highsmith locked up long-term, Marcus Golden is a one-year rental and the verdict is still on Nick Herbig.
