WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Cape Fear Community College Foundation has announced the receipt of a $25,000 grant from the Relief League of Greater Wilmington (ALGW).
According to the statement, the funds will be used to provide scholarships to CFCC students in their academic pursuits.
“We are grateful to the Greater Wilmington Aid League for this generous gift to Cape Fear Community College and the students we serve,” said Shan Fernando, CFCC Vice President of Advancement and Arts. “The impact of financial aid on students is immeasurable; it encourages them to succeed and builds self-confidence.
According to the ALGW website, the Assistance League, a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit organization, seeks to strengthen communities and change lives through charitable programs. The Wilmington chapter, which officially joined the national organization in 2012, has more than 150 members in three counties.
“Being able to help students in need in our area is special. When you donate elsewhere, you often don’t know where the money is going, but giving to CFCC students is important and valuable to our community,” said ALGW Chair Susan Ankrom.
