Another beta update has arrived for the Fenix 7, Enduro 2, Epix 2, Quatix 7 and Marq 2 series smartwatches. Last week Garmin released beta versions 13.16, 13.17 and 13.18, all with various bug fixes in the future as the company moves to issue a new stable update. Although beta version 13.19 follows in its predecessor’s footsteps by focusing on bug fixes, Garmin says it has begun to address the long-standing battery drain issue.

According to the company, Connect IQ watch faces may cause excessive battery drain on version 13.xx builds. Garmin advises that it will continue to monitor battery drain reports in a separate forum post, although it expects this fix to be applicable to users. For reference, Garmin has packed the following other changes into beta version 13.19:

  • Fixed issue where the settings page would not show “off” when auto rest is disabled.
  • A tip for a vertical obstacle course race often shows up.
  • Fixed issue where transit card balance would not update.
  • Fixed issue where CIQ watch faces would not go to sleep.
  • Fixed issue where the recorded speed would increase unexpectedly during movements.
  • Fixed issue where text would break on QR code page.
  • Fixed issue where course altitude min/max indicators could be incorrect.
  • Fixed closing activity data screen when editing pages.
  • Improved acute/chronic workload ratio spacing to avoid text overlap.

Please note that beta version 13.19 has reached 25% release for now. As such, it may be a few days before the update automatically reaches your smartwatch. Alternatively, you can go to System – Software Update – Update to download the update manually. Garmin has revealed that beta version 13.19 can be downloaded via Garmin Express. This only applies to smartwatches within the target emission percentage. See the Garmin forum post for more information.
