Garmin has released additional beta updates for several smartwatches, including the Garmin Forerunner 255. This month’s first beta update, beta version 15.15, builds on last month’s beta version 15.12 with various bug fixes and a few new features. Please note that beta version 15.15 is currently 50% rolling, which means your previous 255 may not be eligible to download the update. However, Garmin hopes to have more smartwatches available in the next day or so.

Additionally, beta version 15.15 is a release candidate build. In other words, as long as Garmin finds no critical issues during public beta testing, the beta build will soon reach all Forerunner 255 models as v15.15. Additionally, Garmin is offering beta version 15.15 through the Garmin Mobile Connect (GCM) platform instead of as an over-the-air (OTA) download.

According to the company’s changelog, beta version 15.15 adds support for displaying battery life in CIQ watches. In addition, the new update allows Forerunner 255 to access cycling event-related power instructions from the running widget and display the course point name on the course point toast. Also, the company has included several bug fixes that should improve the overall user experience from beta version 15.12.

  • Adds support for accessing cycling event related power instructions from the running widget.
  • Improves the vocabulary used for cycling with daily suggested sports activities.
  • Adds support for displaying the course point name on the course point toast.
  • Adds support for remaining battery life on CIQ watch faces in the date field.
  • Fixes an issue where icons don’t display correctly on watch faces with white backgrounds.
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent sleep data and HRV from being calculated overnight.
  • Fixes an issue where text message replies were displaying invalid characters.
  • Fixes an issue where editing data fields on the map page would cause the device to reset.
  • Fixes an issue where the calendar view could show a full-day event as scheduled one day earlier than the actual date.
  • Fixes an issue where images used on the virtual partner page were cut off.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the stopwatch to not sound an alarm even if alarm tones are enabled.
  • Fixes other minor problems.
