Garmin has revealed two new mapping features, expected to arrive on the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 soon, according to the5krunner. The first feature introduced with the Approach S70 smartwatch is the split screen. This version of the device cuts the screen in half horizontally, showing the hole statistics on one side and the approach view to the green on the other.

The feature works with other maps and data fields and is already available for the new Fenix 7 Pro and Epix 2 Pro wearables. The second tool is the Perimeter Map Screen, which allows you to add up to 6 data fields around the edge of the map screen. For example, you can display your heart rate, distance, and altitude. Again, this feature is available on the Fenix 7 and Epix Pro watches and is expected to roll out to the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 models soon.

Another new set of tools that come with the Apex and Fenix 7 Pro are weather map overlays, which let you see temperature, wind and cloud cover on your map. The data is synced through your smartphone to ensure you have the latest information. It’s unclear exactly when Garmin will release these new mapping features for the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 wearables; Most likely, those who signed up for the Garmin beta program will receive it first.
