The SKY66431, jointly developed by Sequance and SkyWorks, enables tiny system-in-package LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity for 5G massive IoT deployments. Housed in an 8.8 × 11.3 × 1.585-mm BGA package, the SKY66431 23-dBm RF front end from Skyworks works with the Sequence Monarch 2 LTE-M and NB-IoT modem in the 699-MHz to 2200-MHz frequency range. . In addition, the device provides power management, memory and crystals, as well as a low-power GNSS function.

The system package meets the very low power and reduced complexity feature requirements of 3GPP Release 14 LTE-Advanced Pro standard narrowband, low data rate LTE technology for machine-type communications (MTC) and it’s upgrade to 3GPP Release 15 and 16. The SKY66431 is intended to meet the needs of form factor-driven cellular LPWAN endpoints. It can be used for utility meters, asset trackers, security and alarm systems, wearable medical devices and other battery-powered devices.

Both Sequence and Skyworks are selling the device under the names Monarch 2 SiP and SKY66431. The unit is certified by several industry and regulatory agencies as well as several network operators. Available now to select customers, with general availability expected in the first quarter of 2023.
