Twitter users share their best reactions to the first look at the Wicked movie adaptation.

On Sunday, John Choo, the director of the long-awaited two-part film, sneered a glance Cynthia Erivo’s character as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, on social media.

“You were not told the whole story. What happens when you veer off the yellow brick road?’ Chu captioned the photos posted on Twitter.

The viral dark images leave much to be desired, only giving fans a sneak peek of Elphaba’s green skin as she prepares to fly on her broom. The other picture simply shows Grande as Glinda as she climbs a massive flight of stairs in a bright pink dress and blonde curls.

Twitter users quickly flooded the app with jokes about not actually being able to “see” the secret images.

Other Twitter users uploaded photos of the teaser, many of which defended a sneak peek at the film adaptation.

The upcoming two-part film is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 film Wicked. The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, as well as the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit.

Wicked first opened on Broadway 20 years ago, starring Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda.

The film will appear in theaters on November 27, 2024, and the second part will premiere on December 25, 2025.

Wicked also stars Jeff Goldblum as the Witch, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fierro, Bowen Young as Pfannie and Marisa Bode as Nessarose.
