After uploading my first video to YouTube in over a year to talk about the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, I mentioned a few minor details on Project Q and its battery life.

In case you didn’t know, Insider Gaming only reported on the details of the new handheld at the beginning of April, in which all the details have been implemented. Well, one detail left out of that report is the handset’s battery life.

Brace yourselves, because Insider Gaming understands that the Project Q’s battery life will be around 3-4 hours. Yes, you read that right. At least the Project Q is on brand DualSense has a shorter battery life, I guess.

If the retail version of Project Q actually has 3-4 hours of battery life, the handset could be a tough sell for Sony. Already people are skeptical about its success, the handset is only used with remote play.

Ultimately, though, I think the success of Project Q rests on its price. A price tag of $200 or less could see the accessory sell in strong numbers, but PlayStation is known for having hefty price tags on its products.

Whatever the case, we should be hearing more about Project Q soon. “We look forward to sharing more information in the near future,” said CEO Jim Ryan. Insider Gaming The release is slated for “late this year,” according to Jim Ryan, who revealed it’s mid-November 2023.
