With Dallas Goedert sidelined with a shoulder injury, the biggest concern was the final depth and who would step up to production in his absence.

We all know that Goedert will be difficult to replace; He is second on the team in receiving yards (544) and second in three receiving touchdowns. But the hope was that one of the younger tight ends or receivers would fill the gap.

So it didn’t happen that way.

In section 6 The EPA PodcastSean Huff has made it clear that he lacks confidence in the inexperienced TE class.

“Grant Calcetera is a project player, that’s why you took him on the third day, he’s not ready yet. Jack Stoll isn’t a good football player, he can block a bit but he’s not a receiving threat. I think your best chance is to get Tyree Jackson out of nowhere and I don’t think that’s going to happen either.

Grant Calcetera, Jack Stoll and Tyree Jackson combined for one catch in the Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Colts.

On the Eagles’ opening drive, Calcetera picked up a penalty that nullified the first down.

“I don’t expect much production until Dallas Goedert comes back.”

It’s a tough situation for the Eagles to be in, but for a team that preaches “next man application” and has faith in the entire roster, this is a chance for three unproven young tight ends to show what they can do. Other than that, all we can do is count the days until Godert comes back.
