One person is dead and one person is in custody after a shooting at a Sonic restaurant in Belen on Friday. Belen Police Department Chief James Harris said the shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Officers were near the restaurant when the incident happened and were on the scene less than a minute later. in. “It seems to be an ongoing family affair in some ways,” Harris said. “We believe the shooter was in line at Sonic at the time (of the shooting),” Harris said. The suspect is believed to have left the scene after the shooting but returned a short time later. That man was taken into custody.The victim has been identified as Elisa Swift-Bird. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
