Emily Blunt says Tom Cruise gave her some unusual — but inspiring — advice while working together on “Edge of Tomorrow.”
Now the 39-year-old actress recalls that her Hollywood co-star did some serious love on the sets of the 2014 action flick. Cruise said he told her to “stop being such an ape” as she struggled with her 85-pound suit.
“We had to put on these huge costumes, and I think it would have been nice if we had done CGI, but we wanted to do it in a practical way,” she explained on the “SmartLess” podcast, which drops Monday. , in news reports.
“When you hear the word ‘touch’, you think it’s cool and comfortable. There was nothing comfortable in these clothes. It was like 85 pounds. It was very difficult,” she continued. “The first time I did it, I started crying and [Cruise] I didn’t know what to do.”
Blunt said, “I just stared at her,” as Cruz became more nervous about wearing the heavy suit.
“‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and I started crying,” she said. “I said, ‘I’m a little nervous about the whole shooting.'”

“He stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and said, ‘Come on, stop being okay?’ She said, pulling her off guard and laughing.
