An upcoming book, The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, has come under fire from fans of the Scarlet Witch after Elizabeth Olsen’s Avenger was swapped out for Loki and Sylvie. Check it out!

Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch remains one of Marvel Studios’ most popular characters, and the actress has a very devoted online fanbase (she doesn’t get all the “mommy” talk either). That could explain why there’s something of an outcry online about an upcoming MCU book.

The franchise’s timeline has become increasingly difficult to follow in recent years, particularly with the introduction of the Multiverse.

On October 24, a new book, The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, will attempt to clear things up but is coming under fire for making one noteworthy change to its cover.

Originally, it featured Iron Man, Shang-Chi, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Captain Marvel, Thanos, and the Scarlet Witch. The artwork has since been, with Penguin Random House swapping out Wanda Maximoff for Loki and Sylvie.

While there are those who feel this is some sort of slight to the character, it’s likely tied to the fact the Scarlet Witch is supposed to be dead…and the small fact Loki season 2 is set to be released on Disney+ this October. That series has proven to be pivotal to the Multiverse Saga and will likely be used to explain the fallout from the Sacred Timeline branching out.

Olsen is expected to return as Wanda, with Agatha: Coven of Chaos set to elaborate on her fate. However, she isn’t expected to make another physical appearance until either a solo project or the next Avengers movie, The Kang Dynasty

Given the Scarlet Witch’s reality-altering powers and her ties to the Multiverse, we expect her to be crucial to whatever Marvel Studios has planned over the next few years, cover or no cover.
