TUCSON (KVOA) – Tucson police responded to a home in Tucson’s Southside on Tuesday in reference to a report of an unresponsive male.

Medics arrived just before 2:00 p.m. to find a dead man inside the home and brutally confront him.

The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Joseph Armando Montano.

Investigators say Montano was not living at the home at the time of his death.

Jose Pedro Rodriguez, 31, has been charged with first-degree murder in Montano’s death.

Rodriguez drove to Phoenix before being arrested by Phoenix PD in an unrelated incident.

He remains in the Maricopa County Jail pending extradition to Tucson.

He was charged with 1st degree murder.
