This offseason has seen plenty of praise for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, though the one he’s best known for may now have fallen.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler polled anonymous league executives, coaches and scouts as he ranked the league’s top quarterbacks.

In those rankings, Buro ranked second overall behind Patrick Mahomes. As one AFC coach put it, Burroughs is the second-best quarterback in the league and “not even close.”

A scout told Fowler what Bengals fans figured out pretty quickly — Burrow didn’t come off as a spectacular athlete or anything, but his consistent command of the game was reminiscent of past greats.

“A great athlete takes time to appreciate because it’s not the first thing you see,” one veteran scout told Fowler. “But the more you watch him, the more you’re like, damn, he’s doing the right thing every game. It’s too much. [Drew] Brace and [Tom] When Brady starts doing things consistently every year and you’re thinking, well, maybe he really is that guy.

Is Tom Brady and Drew Brees being named the league’s No. 2 quarterback? Not bad for the burro, which finally seems to be the focus of everyone, as it should be.
