The Cincinnati Bengals are coming into the 2023 season as back-to-back winners of the AFC North and are currently favorites to win it for the third straight year.

The Athletic’s Randy Mueller wrote down what he thinks will be the biggest threat to every team in the AFC North this season, and he doesn’t think the Bengals have much to worry about.

Here’s some of what he had to say about Cincinnati:

As usual, Cincy had a minor sound list change. The Bengals stick to their early evaluations and marry themselves with their draft picks. They let defenseman Jesse Bates III leave via free agency, which I have no problem with. Cincinnati player director Duke Tobin and his staff have done a good job of creating options from within and avoiding overpaying at non-premium positions.

Mueller thinks one of the Bengals’ biggest threats right now has to be off the field, with Joe Burrow getting a contract extension to stay with Cincinnati as long as possible. If they can do that, he believes the Bengals’ Super Bowl window could last as long as the Burrows.

On the defensive side of the ball, Muller said Lou Anarumo “can do more with less” than any other team in the league.

With no games played yet, Mueller seems to believe the AFC North is the Bengals’ division to beat.
