Legally, Apple’s most controversial iPhone 15 update could be a locked USB-C implementation. But for iPhone fans, a new leak has all but confirmed that the biggest surprise at their release will be the cameras.

Honorable Laker Unknownz21 States “Finally, you’ve received independent confirmation of this: Periscope Lens is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The rumor has been circulating for months, but few have taken it seriously as iPhone buyers are worried about seeing the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max split for the first time. Aside from battery life, the Pro and Pro Max are almost always on par, with the purchase decision typically based on size preference.

That now looks set to change with the iPhone 15 lineup, and fans of smaller phones will be forced to buy a smartphone that’s bigger than they need or miss out on the best features.

On the plus side (pun intended), the Periscope camera has been a conspicuous absence from the iPhone lineup for a while now, and the Pro Max fixes that. Competitors, notably the Galaxy S23 Ultra, have gone big with a combination of periscope lenses and digital zoom.

In Apple’s defense, rivals typically limit their Periscope lenses to their larger phones. why? Perhaps it’s a matter of space, and while Apple has consistently overcome space limitations with the iPhone Pro in terms of thermal performance and battery life, it’s simply possible that the iPhone 15 Pro won’t be able to physically squeeze in the new periscope lens. So, it looks like 2023 is set to be the year iPhone buyers go big if they want all the best features.

What’s more, sales of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini show that support for its smaller smartphones is strong, but not on the scale many expected, so perhaps Apple’s sales aren’t too hard. Especially for those tested with the Pros’ Super Slim bezels, next-gen A17 chip, and switch to USB-C.

That said, both the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max prices are expected to rise, with the Pro Max breaking the feature equation after several years and expect a sneer from analysts that ‘iPhone 15 Pro-ish’ memes will explode.
