Hugh Jackman is sharing details on how his iconic character will interact with Ryan Reynolds’ wisecracking Deadpool in the upcoming “Deadpool 3.”

In a recent episode of the Empire Films podcast, Jackman called the two characters “zero” compatibility, calling them “opposites” and “hate each other” — all of which make for some pretty odd-couple pairings. A joke in the movie.

“He was upset about it,” he said on the podcast. “[Wolverine is] offended [Deadpool and] He wants to walk a million miles away from him or he wants to hit his head. Unfortunately, I’m not a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m going to punch him in the head more often than not.

The dynamic also mirrors Jackman’s off-screen relationship with Reynolds, as the friends share a long running gag on social media pretending not to like each other, often mocking or teasing each other.

Jackman (surprisingly) has played Wolverine, also known as Logan, since the release of the first “X-Men” movie in 2000.

He has worn the adamantium claws about a dozen times that helped introduce Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson (in his first and failed iteration) in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

The “Son” actor made his last outing as Wolverine in 2011. In 2017, he wrapped up the character’s story with the well-received “Logan” and, according to him, “perfectly” came away with an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay. Process.

Jackman said in the podcast that the new movie takes place before the events of “Logan,” so he made it clear that he wouldn’t change the timeline of that movie for the fan-favorite character.

In the past, he said that this will be the last time he plays “Logan” Wolverine, this is certainly not the case now. In the podcast, he was able to pinpoint the exact day he had a change of heart this summer.

“It was August 14th, I remember driving, and it just came to me, I thought, this is going to be really fun. I’m having more fun with that film than anything I’ve ever done,” he said.

Still, Jackman’s training to become Wolverine — a character he identifies as the furthest from who he is as a human — gets harder each time, but this time, he has some extra motivation.

I’ve got the added incentive of bringing out Ryan Reynolds every day. So I want to be in good shape for that, so I can enjoy it!”

“Deadpool 3” It should hit theaters in November 2024.
