Karen Gomes, president and CEO of Tufts Medicine Care at Home, is retiring at the end of the year.
Gomez, who began her career as a bedside nurse, joined the former Home Health Foundation in 2012 as chief clinical officer and vice president of clinical services, and was promoted to president and CEO in 2017.
“Dedicating my 30-year career to caring for others has been my life’s calling, privilege and honor. said Gomez, who recently welcomed her first grandchild.
Ray Spadoni, a veteran healthcare executive with leadership roles in several home health and hospital organizations nationwide, has been named interim president of Tufts Medicine Care at Home, effective Jan. 3. In 2018 and this organization merged with Wellford Health System. year known as Tufts Medicine Care at Home, a Lawrence-based nonprofit organization in its 127th year.
“I am honored to take the baton from Karen, knowing that she will never be replaced,” Spadoni said. “Instead, I’m excited to continue the great work this esteemed team of healthcare heroes is doing every day to advance community health through professional, compassionate, and essential services at home.”
Gomez worked with his colleagues at Tufts Medicine to create a smooth transition plan.
